BUCCLEUCH GUNDOGS - ABOUT US
Buccleuch Gundogs are part of Buccleuch Sporting, who in turn are a part of the Buccleuch Group, whose Chairman is the 10th Duke of Buccleuch & Queensberry.
The Buccleuch Kennel is situated at Chapel Farm, north of Thornhill in Dumfries and Galloway in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The surrounding countryside lends itself well to training the gundogs in a natural environment. Chapel Farm has been recently renovated from top to bottom to create state-of-the art kennels. The maximum capacity is in excess of 50 dogs at any one time. It has been equipped with specialised whelping kennels, an isolation wing, a hospital area, a spacious exercise yard and CCTV. It even has a showering unit for washing down the dogs after exercise.

In 2004 a gundog head trainer and handler was appointed to oversee the re-introduction of a breeding programme for the renowned Buccleuch Labrador line which has remained intact since 1825. The objective is to re-establish the bloodline on a much broader base and to develop the strain.
English Springer and Cocker Spaniel gundogs are now also bred under the Buccleuch name.
Terrific success has now been achieved in the field trialling gundog circuit with all breeds under the Buccleuch name having won multiple Championship awards under the expert handling of David Lisett, Kennel Manager, trainer and handler.
