FTCh success for Buccleuch Isla and Buccleuch Lexie

Date: 30/01/2009

Buccleuch Lexie (Ruby) and Buccleuch Isla (Poppy) ran in the Scottish Field Trial Association Open ESS Qualifiying Stake at the Hopes Estate in Gifford.  The ground was heavy bracken and whin bushes and the game was pheasants, woodcock and rabbits.  Poppy had a very good first run flushing 2 pheasants and a rabbit and retrieving them very well.  Ruby had luck on her side and had two very clinical runs making retrieves into the sun look very easy.  At the end of the trial Ruby went home with 1st Place and Guns’ Choice.

Buccleuch Lexie and Buccleuch Isla again ran in the Lothian and Borders Gundog Club Open ESS Qualifying Stake at Rawbarn Estate near Longformacus.  The trial ground was on a grouse moor, all heather with lots of rabbits in really wet conditions.  Poppy got first place which makes her an FTCh (well done).  Ruby ran a good trial but finished up 3rd.

Buccleuch Lexie ran at the Tyne, Tees and Tweed Gundog Association Open ESS Qualifying Stake at Raby Estate in Northumberland.  The ground was heavy rashes and thick bracken and the game shot was rabbit and woodcock.  Ruby had 2 good runs on woodcock - on the second run she was taken over to try on a woodcock on which another dog had failed.  The woodcock suddenly jumped 2 feet in the air and Ruby retrieved it quickly back to hand. She finished with 1st Place making her an FTCh.

This means that the 3 older dogs, Ruby, Poppy and Kim which feature in the Complete Springer Spaniel Training Series DVD are now all FTChs - well done!
