We started the first day at the Buccleuch Gundog Kennels with an assessment of the dogs’ abilities with marked retrieves over obstacles. This was followed by a walked up scenario in the Rabbit Pen as two groups of Buccleuch Spaniels hunted and found game. It was good to see the expressions on the faces of the handlers, as well as the dogs, as the spaniels flushed the rabbits past them.
In the afternoon the party moved onto the hills to experience ditches, walls, and a shooting environment, thus enabling us to stretch the dogs further and give them experience in this type of terrain.
